Deborah Chappell Dorman, Jeffersonville


— A Celebration of Life for Deborah Chappell Dorman, Jeffersonville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 , at Wall Street United Methodist Church, Jeffersonville.  She died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Norton Pavilion/Hosparus Unit in Louisville. Per Deborah’s wishes, cremation and a private burial in Utica Hillcrest Cemetery were chosen.

She was born Dec. 22 in Middlesboro, Ky. to Hazel M. Webb Chappell and John C. Chappell. Deborah and her family moved to Jeffersonville where she lived until her death. At the time of her death, she was employed as a Principal at Mercer, the world’s largest human resources consultants, a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan, Inc.

Survivors include the loves of her life, her children and grandchildren,  daughter, Heather Dorman Teepe, and her children, Jackson and Justin Teepe, Indianapolis; son, Troy Dorman, his wife, Alison, and their son, Vincent, Utica,. She is also survived by Mike Mullins, Louisville, best friend and primary caregiver during her two and a half year battle with cancer. Other survivors include her mother, Hazel M. Chappell, Jeffersonville; sisters, Judy Chappell Papania, Floyds Knobs, and Suzanne Chappell Strong, Lexington, Ky.; and nephews, Mario Papania, Alaska; and Thomas Strong and wife, Adrianne, Lexington, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her father, John C. Chappell, and her brother-in-law, Michael Papania.

Her children would like to thank the Hosparus doctors and staff at Norton’s Pavilion for the special care Deborah received and recognize Deborah’s very special friends who, along with Mike Mullins, spent many hours by her side during her final journey home: Cassie Schonnard, Terisha Johnson, Linda Emly, Chris Myers, and Sandy Lewis.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Deborah’s life should be made to:  Hosparus – Hospices of Louisville, Southern Indiana & Central Kentucky, PO Box 35245, Louisville, KY 40232-9892, Attention:  HICC.  

Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, is in charge of interment arrangements.
