Bernice Lee Smith, 91; Seymour

— Funeral services for Bernice Lee Smith, 91, New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Seymour Crossing in Seymour.

She was born in Carrollton, Miss., and was a very active member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church where she served as deaconess. She formerly volunteered at Floyd Memorial Hospital, loved to garden and had a passion for cooking. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she cherished.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma “Nonnie” Thompson and her husband, David; her son, Michael Smith and his wife, Patricia; a brother, J.W. Lee Jr.; a sister, Mary Joyce Stevens; six grandchildren, Brad Thompson and his wife, Brandi, Matt Thompson and his wife, Kara, Drew Thompson and his wife, Jen, Michelle Crawford and her husband, Brian, Carrie Rosati, and Ben Smith and his wife, Keawe; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman “Barney” Smith; two sisters, Dorothy Weeks and Patricia Chatham; and a brother, Jack Lee.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
