Charles H. Deaton

77; of Sellersburg

— Funeral services for Charles H. Deaton, 77, of Sellersburg, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Indiana Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Madison. He died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Clark Memorial Hospital due to complications of Parkinson Disease.

He was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Blue Diamond, Ky., to Dock and Sophia Sizemore Deaton. He was a United States Air Force veteran, retired from Cissell Manufacturing as plant and warehouse manager, property maintenance for Haas Cabinet, a business he started for something to do after he retired.  He was most happy traveling, spending time with his family, working in his garage, driving his 1955 Chevy, and mowing on the John Deere Tractor.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Weber-Deaton; daughter, Sue Bodenstadt; grandsons, Nickolas C. Jackson, U.S. Navy and Cody Bodenstodt; mother-in-law, Wilma Weber; brother-in-law, C. Joel Weber and his wife, Regina; nieces, Amy McCulloch and Kim Brooks; sisters, Jody Wilson, Stella Thompson, and Betty Sutherland; and brothers, Fred, Jack, Bill and Danny Deaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene, sister, Joyce and father-in-law, Clifford Weber.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.  

The family wishes to thank VA Medical Center, ER Dr.’s, I.C.U. healthcare team, Liz Jervis, R.N in the Oncology Dept., Dr. Trommier and Hosparus Care team for such wonderful and outstanding care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the V.A. Medical Center.
