Louis S. Jensen Sr., 85; of New Albany

— Funeral services for Louis S. Jensen Sr., 85, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Central Christian Church with entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Friday, March 1, 2013, at his home. 

He was a native of New Albany. He was a retired counselor and dean of boys at New Albany High School. He was very active in New Albany High School athletics serving as assistant basketball coach for 35 years which included a state championship in 1973, runner-up in 1980, 21 sectional titles, nine regional, three semistate, one runner-up and three final fours. He served in numerous other sports as a coach or assistant coach. 

He was a member of Central Christian Church in New Albany and served his community by serving in many capacities.

He was a New Albany City Councilman for eight years serving as president for one term. He was a Republican precinct committeeman for 30 years, a former member and president of the New Albany Housing Authority, and various other positions. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion and VFW. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia S. (Hancock) Jensen; son, Louis S. Jensen Jr. and his wife Sally, of New Albany; daughter, Luanne Jensen, DVM, of Lanesville; and two granddaughters, Katelyn and Kelsey Jensen

Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, New Albany.
