Lewis A. Bierman, 86; Greenville

— Funeral services for Lewis A. Bierman, 86, Greenville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial and military honors to take place at a later date at New Albany National Cemetery. He died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.

 He was a retired contractor and a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed traveling, selling his worldly treasures, and could easily be described as a people person. He was born April 30, 1927 in Floyd County, to the late Arthur and Lillian Banet Bierman.

He is survived by his children, David Bierman and his wife, Laura, Daniel Bierman and his wife, Cheri, Margaret Brethauer and her husband, Russell, Barbara Rainbolt and her husband, Steve, Sandy Hunt, and Brooke Bierman; siblings, Merrel Bierman and his wife, Thelma, Patsy Egler, and Frank Bierman and his wife, June; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  

 In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Marcellus and Arthur Bierman Jr.  

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
