Richard Francis Yarber

93; formerly of Jeffersonville

— Richard Francis Yarber, 93, formerly of Jeffersonville, died Feb. 26, 2013, in Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca.

 He was born at 952 E. Maple St. in Jeffersonville and was the fourth generation of his family to live there. Richard was the son of Benjie and Frances (Lang) Yarber.

He graduated number two in the class of 1936 from Jeffersonville High School, followed by graduation with distinction from  Purdue University where he studied engineering.

Richard had a lifelong career as a mechanical engineer working for Curtiss Wright in Buffalo and later for Northrop in California . He enjoyed returning to Jeffersonville on many occasions for high school reunions and to visit relatives. Richard enjoyed golf, target shooting, ballroom dancing and serving as a lector at church. He was a hospital volunteer for 17 years. After his retirement he travelled to Europe and Korea and around the United States.

He is survived by three children, and four grandchildren all in California. A funeral Mass was held at St. John Fisher Church Catholic Church in Rancho Palos Verdes on March 1. Inturment was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, Ca.
