George Edward Kaiser, 73; of New Albany

A Funeral Mass for George Edward Kaiser, 73, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. He died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville.

He was born June 17, 1939, in New Albany to the late William H. and M. MIldred (Day) Kaiser. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Providence High School in Clarksville and St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.

Along with his brothers, George was owner/operator of Kaiser Wholesale Inc. in New Albany where he held the position of CEO. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council, St. Vincent DePaul Society and Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany. George had an impressive recall of sports statistics that complimented his passion for his favorite teams, Indiana University at Notre Dame. In his retirement years, he enjoyed playing cards and playing golf with his friends. But more importantly, he treasured watching his grandchildren grow up. 

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth Ann Uhl Kaiser; children, Dr. Sheryl King and her husband, Ed, Chris Jaiser and his wife, Julie, DeAnn Burns and her husband, Dan, and Becky Wenning; a sister, Joyce Krementz and her husband, Rich; a brother, William Kaiser; grandchildren, Joe, Doug, Helen, Will and Sally King; Morgan, Kate, and Kendall Kaiser; Danielle, Aaron, Alec and Rachel Burns and Derek and Josie Wenning.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Louis Kaiser and his sister, Darlene Kaiser.

Visitation at the Spring Street Chapel of Kraft Funeral Services in New Albany will be from 11 8 p.m. Tuesday. 

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Our Lady of Providence High School, St. Vincent DePaul Society or Holy Family Catholic Church.
