Lillie E. (Veteto) Bowe, 84; of Sellersburg

A funeral Mass for Lillie E. (Veteto) Bowe, 84, of Sellersburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at St. Joe Hill Catholic Church, Sellersburg, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A compassionate and selfless person, Lillie passed away peacefully with her husband, sister and family by her side on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. 

Lillie was born on June 6, 1929, in Franklin, Ky., to the late James J. and Maggie E. (Johns) Veteto. She was a member of St. Joe Hill Catholic Church and active in the church quilting club. Lillie retired from Beechmont Press in Louisville. She loved to dance and also tend to her flower beds that she was so proud of. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Herman J. Bowe; a sister, Gladys Owen; sister-in-law, Marcha Bowe; brother-in-law, Carl Bowe; many nieces, nephews, good friends and caretaker, Barbara. She was loved and will be remembered by all. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Mae Carr, James Albert Veteto, William Veteto; and sisters-in-law, Aileen Bowe and Rita Hettinger. 

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hosparus, as well as Lillie’s nieces and nephews for their love and care of Lillie over the last few weeks. 

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany. A prayer service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m.
