Wiley N. ‘Buck’ Hansford, 91; of Clarksville

Funeral services celebrating the life of Wiley N. “Buck” Hansford, 91, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Monday, June 24, 2013, at Baptist East Hospital.

 He was born in Somerset, Ky., was a longtime resident of Clarksville, and retired from the Ford Motor Company after more than 37 years of service. He was a former vice president of the UAW Local 862 and served as police commissioner for the Town of Clarksville for more than 18 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II having served in the Normandy invasion on D-Day and moved across France, Belgium and into Germany with Patton’s 3rd Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 59 years and was also a member of the Shrine Club. He was a big-hearted man who never met a stranger, loved his family and lived his life to the fullest. 

Survivors include his son, Jeffrey L. Hansford and his wife, Jackie; sister, Bernice Tweedy and her husband, Jack; and two grandchildren, Brad and Alexis Hansford.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Laura “Peg” Hansford; his parents, John and Flossie Mae Hansford; three sisters; and five brothers. 

 Visitation will be from noon to 8  p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
