Carroll Eugene Brown

91; Clarksville

A Mass of Christian burial for Carroll Eugene Brown, 91, Clarksville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville, with  burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

 He was born in Cloverport, Ky., and was a retired maintenance worker for General Electric. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corp, a member of the Clarksville Optimist Club where he was a past Lt. Governor and President, a member of the VFW, New Albany, where he served as Chaplain, a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where he served in the choir, and he served as a volunteer at the VA Hospital.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Ann Gisiner (William James), Louisville, Linda Sue Herrell, Louisville, Joyce Marie Castillo and her husband, Ruben, Louisville, and Donna Katherine Palmer and her husband, Paul, Mt. Washington; a sister, Lucy Reed, Louisville; a brother, Benjamin Brown, Louisville; four grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Justin, and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren, Adam, Jakob, and Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Alta Marie Greenwood and Edna Ryan.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville.
