Mary Louise (Schmitt) Kelty, 100; of New Albany

— Funeral services for Mary Louise (Schmitt) Kelty, 100, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Newcomer Funeral Home in New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, also in New Albany. She died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, in Louisville, Ky.

She was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Louisville, to the late William B. and Christine (Seller) Schmitt. 

Mary Louise was united in marriage to George Edward Kelty on Oct. 16, 1937. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and later, Holy Family Catholic Church, both in New Albany. Grounded in faith and family, she walked through life filled with song, love and laughter, all of which she shared generously.

Survivors include her son, Joseph A. Kelty and his wife, Barbara, of The Villages, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara M. Kelty, of Louisville; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Kelty; five grandchildren, Kevin, Timothy, Anthony and his wife, Tiffanny, Kristi and Brent Kelty and his wife, Ashley; and two great grandchildren, Jude and Dane. 

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George E. Kelty; a son, Patrick L. Kelty; and a sister, Anna Rose Schneider.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10 1 p.m. Tuesday. 

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Indiana, 624 E. Market St., New Albany, 47150; Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 6100 Dutchman’s Lane, Ste. 401, Louisville, Ky., 40205.
