Richard E. Foster, 87; of Clarksville

— Funeral services for Richard E. Foster, 87, of Clarksville, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarksville, with private burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at his home.

He was a native of Clarksville and was a self-employed public accountant. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in Germany, and was a member of Howard Park Christian Church. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Louisville and served as the Town of Clarksville Clerk-Treasurer from 1956 to 1980. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his generosity and charitable giving and his concern for the less fortunate. 

Survivors include a son, Richard S. Foster, of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Karen Alexander, of Royal Oak, Mich., and Shelly Storch and her husband, Rick, of Prospect, Ky.; four grandchildren, Ryan Alexander and his wife, Kristen, Brent Alexander, Lauren Ayers and her husband, Josh, and Cory Storch; and three great grandchildren, Foster Ayers, Jaxon Ayers and Kellen Alexander. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Foster, in 1996, and his longtime companion Pauline Fifer in 2007.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25 and after noon on Tuesday.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
