Ruth Cureton Stoy

93; of New Albany

— Funeral services for Ruth Cureton Stoy, 93, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, New Albany. She died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

 She was born April 11, 1920 to her late parents, John and Elizabeth Cureton.    She was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business School. During World War II she worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in support of research towards the Manhattan Project. She was a retired employee from the US Steel Corporation and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers’ Union. She was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was an avid traveler and spent many happy days on the trail with her niece Barbara Carpenter and husband George. She possessed that rare combination of grace and grit, but above all, she was a dedicated mother who led by example and instilled a life-long love of learning to her family.

Survivors include daughters, Susan Stoy, and Lisa Marie Stoy;  and son Brett Cureton Stoy       

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Stoy III.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 9,  at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany.
