Funeral services for Delton Lowell Baker, 89, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, with burial to follow in Scottsburg Cemetery. He died Saturday, April 20, 2013.
He was born April 18, 1924 in Salem, the son of the late Murle S. and Carrie M. (Farabee) Baker. He was married in 1944 to his beloved wife, Margaret Baker. He was a cross country driver for Mason Dixon for 38 years and a retired school bus driver for Greater Clark County School Corporation after 14 years of service. He served in WWII as a Military Police Officer. He was a member of American Legion Post #35, Clark Masonic Lodge #40, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, a lifetime member of the Tri-County Shrine Club, George Rogers Clark Scottish Rite Club, a Kentucky Colonel, a 32nd Degree Mason and a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Jeffersonville.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Maragaret Baker; a daugther, Janice Hendricks and her husband, Larry, of Jeffersonville; a granddaughter, Leslie Schneider and her husband, Sean, of Jeffersonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sherald Baker.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the First Baptist Church building fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
