A funeral Mass for Harold G. “Strawberry” Schneider, 78, of Lanesville, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lanesville, with burial in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. There will be military rites at the graveside. He died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Harrison County, on Sept. 7, 1934, the son of Edward J. and Agnes M. Schellenberger Schneider. He was owner and operator of the K & H Café in Lanesville from 1960 to 1995. He was precinct committeeman and a delegate for the Democrat Party. He was also president of the Indiana License Beverage Association. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Council 1808 and a charter member of Maurice Kochert Assembly 3289 4th degree. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Litch Schneider; two sons, Matthew L. Schneider and his wife, Cathy, of Seymour, and Dale E. Schneider and his wife, Connie, of Dallas; two daughters, Pam J. Schneider and Patricia A. Bliss and her husband, Mark, of New Albany; three brothers, Kenneth Schneider and his wife, Flo, of Lanesville, Herb Schneider and his wife, Amy, of Lanesville, and Donald Schneider and his wife, Pat, of Indianapolis; one sister, Mary Eisert, of Lanesville; six grandchildren, Isaac, Justin, Kyle and Sydney Schneider, Tyler and Clayton Bliss; and one great -granddaughter, Ruth Schneider.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, and after 8 a.m. Saturday, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home, Corydon. There will be a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
