Henry A. Gesenhues, 82; of New Albany

A funeral Mass for Henry A. Gesenhues, 82, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery, Floyds Knobs. He died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, with family at his side. 

 A U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he retired from Jeff Boat in Jeffersonville after 35 years. A member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany, he was active in the church Primetimers and Euchre Club. A master woodworker, many family and friends have enjoyed the benefits of his skills with wood. He was born Feb. 26, 1931, to the late Bernard and Elizabeth Kupferer Gesenhues.   

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Martha F. Korbe Gesenhues; daughters, Donna Ettel and her husband, Terry, and Susan Ostrader and her husband, Jeff; sons, Anthony, Kevin, and Stephen Gesenhues; sister, Martha Phillips and her husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Audrey Gesenhues; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Simpson; and brother, Melvin Gesenhues.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany.
