Horst Steinbrenner, 77; of Lanesville

A memorial service for Horst Steinbrenner, 77, of Lanesville, will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with private inurnment at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery, Floyds Knobs. He died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his home holding his wife’s hand. 

 He was born Oct. 3, 1935, in Feldberg, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1961 as a civil engineer. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge and The Shriners, and was an avid hunter, fisherman and a devoted Papaw.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Becht Steinbrenner; sons, Frank Steinbrenner and his wife, Sheila, Eric Steinbrenner and his wife, Suzanne, Chris Plaiss, and Rob Plaiss and his wife, Karla; daughters, Kim Gibbons and Amber Williamson and her husband, Mark; and grandchildren, Cody, Kayla, Elise, Connor, Carson, Meghan, Macy, Kamryn and Sarah.

Memorial visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
