Catherine Linchey Driscoll Hatch

90; of Greenland, N.H.

— A Mass of Christian burial for Catherine Linchey Driscoll Hatch, 90, of Greenland, N.H. will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Saint Catherine Church, Portsmouth, N.H. She died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass., surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 18, 1922 in Portsmouth, N.H., the daughter of William and Mary Dudley Linchey. She married Cornelius Driscoll in 1944, and together they made their home in Portsmouth.  They had two daughters, Beth and Lanie, and they were married 29 glorious years until his death in 1973.

Catherine met the second love of her life in Anthony Hatch, and they were married in 1980. Tony’s four children, and his many grandchildren, became as much a part of Catherine as her own.  Tony and Catherine split their time between Portsmouth and Florida, and had 27 years together until his death in 2007.

Perhaps her greatness sadness was the unexpected loss of her daughter, Lanie, in 1971.  Connie, Catherine and Beth were left heartbroken, and her death was something Catherine never fully recovered from.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Sharp, of Greenland and previously New Albany; her brothers, Joseph Linchey, of Walnut Creek, Calif., and William Linchey and his wife, Mary, of Dover, N.H.; granddaughter, Jennifer Stoll and her husband, John, of Evansville; grandson, Christopher Sharp, of Louisville; and grandson, Matthew Sharp and his wife, Erica, of Floyds Knobs.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Farrell Funeral Home, Portsmouth, N.H.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
