Stephen A. Michel

83; of New Albany

— Funeral service celebrating the life of Stephen A. Michel , 83, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Monday, Jan, 21, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

He was a native of New Albany and was an Army veteran. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, Ky. He was also a member of the New Albany Kiwanis Club where he served as Past President, and St. Mark’s United Church of Christ where he held numerous leadership positions.

Survivors include two stepsons, Douglas Gardner, and Timothy Gardner and his wife, Joan; two stepdaughters, Julie A. McNabb and her husband, Brad, and Jenni Beaver; and five grandchildren, Jonathan, Elizabeth and William McNabb and Brandon and Larah Beaver.

  He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Graham Michel and two brothers, Charles and Kermit Michel.                                           

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the church.

Memorial gifts may be made to the church or the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, KY.
