Rosemary “Rosie” Hammer Bielefeld, 68; of Georgetown

A funeral Mass for Rosemary “Rosie” Hammer Bielefeld, 68, of Georgetown, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery in New Albany. She died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

She was born July 15, 1944, in Louisville to the late Karl and Irene Hammer. She graduated from both St. Theresa Parochial School and the Ursuline Academy in Louisville. Rosie was a registered nurse from Floyd Memorial Hospital and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Church Altar Society. She was a Hosparus volunteer, an avid gardener and most of all, was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Bielefeld; sons, Mark Bielefeld, of Davenport, Iowa, Gregory Bielefeld, of Jeffersonville and Eric Bielefeld and his wife, Stephanie, of New Albany; a daughter, Amy Bielefeld Hardin and her husband, Ryan, of Greeville; sisters, Helen Tucker, of Havana, Fla. and Carol Kamer and her husband, George, of Louisville; and grandchildren, Angela, Carisa, Christian, Shelby, Jacob, Meredith and Brooke.

Visitation at the Spring Street Chapel of Kraft Funeral Service will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. 

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Altar Society.
