Edwin B. “Buddy” Kelmel

94; of Sellersburg

A funeral Mass for Edwin B. “Buddy” Kelmel, 94, of Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, at St. Joe Hill Catholic Church, Sellersburg, with burial and military honors at St. Joe Hill Cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

 He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II. He was a proud recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was also a member of St. Joe Hill Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg. He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Carr Township to the late Bernard J. and Carolyn Graf Kelmel.

 He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary L. Geltmaker Kelmel; children, Kathy L. White and her husband, Don, Elizabeth A. Corcoran and her husband, John, Janette M. Sparks and her husband, Clarence, Joseph E. Kelmel and his wife, Diane, and Julie C. Mader and her husband Rick; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.
