Funeral services for Aaron Wayne Duncan, 35, of Charlestown, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 9, 1971, in Jeffersonville, the son of Herschel and Betty Woods Duncan.
Survivors besides his parents include a sister, Kim Gardner, Berea, Ky.; brother, Dale Duncan, Sellersburg; and his caregiver, Ella Scruggs, Charlestown.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, until time of service.
James R. Oliver Jr.
48, wood worker
Funeral services for James R. Oliver Jr., 48, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Coots Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Eastern Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Jeffersonville, born June 30, 1958, the son of James R. Oliver Sr. and Betty L. Oliver. He was a wood worker.
Survivors include his son, James R. Oliver III, Kennewick, Wash.; his mother, Betty L. Oliver, Jeffersonville; a brother, Jerry F. Oliver, Jeffersonville; three sisters, Russellene Hall, Utica, Linda S. Wyatt, Clarksville and Alice A. Winn, Clarksville; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Oliver Sr.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 and after 9 a.m. Friday.
Engarcia Bonita Hamby
71, of Charlestown
Funeral services for Engarcia Bonita Hamby, 71, of Charlestown, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, New Albany, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at St. Catherine Regional Hospital, Charlestown.
She was born April 1, 1935 in Agana, Guam. She was a member of Sellersburg Full Gospel Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, James A. Hamby; two sons, Anthony J. Hamby and his wife, Kathy F. Lane, New Albany and John Garcia, Barrgada, Guam; a niece, Fran Swettenam, Charlestown; grandchildren, Ashley McIntosh, Jason Hamby, Marisa Hamby and Nicole Lane; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 and after 10 a.m. Saturday.

79, World War II Army veteran
Funeral services for Donald E. Miller, 79, of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was a native of New Albany, an Army veteran of World War II, a custom home builder, and a member of Culbertson Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Gwenn Wilburn and her husband, James; his sister, Janet Chastain; a son-in-law, Daniel Eberle; and three grandchildren, Stefani Habermel and Rachel and Michael Eberle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Masie Cullen Miller; a daughter, Gayle D. Eberle; and his parents, Robert L. and J. Mabel Zornman Miller.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 and after 9 a.m. Saturday.

84, Catholic Priest
Funeral Mass Celebration for Rev. Father Arthur Young, OFM CONV., 84, of Mount St. Francis, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Mount St. Francis Friary Chapel in Mount St. Francis, with burial in Mount St. Francis Friary Cemetery. He died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the La Posada-Mesilla Valley Hospice.
He was born May 12, 1922, in Elyria, Ohio, to William James Young, and Stephanie Marie Robson Young. Father Art, as he was fondly known to family and friends, made his Solemn Profession as a Conventual Franciscan in the Province of Our Lady of Consolation on Aug. 10, 1946, and was ordained a Catholic Priest May 26, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio. He served as pastor in numerous parishes in both the Southwest and Midwest. Father Art retired on July 1, 2003, and spent his retirement years serving the San Isidro Mission in Dona Ana, New Mexico.
Survivors include his sisters, Evelyn Young-Irolla and her husband, Ralph, Kendall Park, N.J. and Nancy Henninger and her husband, David, Milford, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy, John and Donald; and sisters, Marjorie and Alice Jo.
Visitation at Mount St. Francis Friary Chapel in Mount St. Francis will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4.

Jeffrey Alah Deuser
52, of Bloomington
Funeral services for Jeffrey Alan Deuser, 52, of Bloomington, will be held at noon, Friday, Nov. 3, at Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Edwardsville, with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery. He died unexpectedly Oct. 28, 2006, at Bloomington Hospital.
He was born in New Albany on Feb. 23, 1954, the beloved son of Glenn and Thelma McGlothan Deuser. He was a 1972 graduate of Floyd Central High School and was a member of the football and baseball teams.
He graduated in 1976 from Hanover College and studied creative writing in the doctoral program at Indiana University. He married his college sweetheart, Asha Swarup, and they settled in Bloomington. His pride and joy was their son, Sasha, who attends Colby College in Maine.
He established his Mac Consulting firm in Bloomington and was a certified Mac Genius. His writing won National ACM SIGUCCS awards in computer education and training. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alma and Arthur Deuser and grandfather, Stanley McGlothan.
Survivors include his wife, the former Asha Swarup; a son, Sasha Swarup-Deuser, Bloomington; parents, Glenn and Thelma McGlothan Deuser, Georgetown; three brothers, Mark Deuser and wife, Ruth and Greg Deuser and wife, Annette, all of Floyds Knobs and Dr. David Deuser, New York City, N.Y.; and grandmother, Odell McGlothan, Georgetown.
Visitation at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening, Thursday, Nov. 2.

66, past president of Borden Town Board
Funeral services for Gene E. Jackson, 66, of Salem, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Weathers Funeral Home, 106 S. Shelby St., Salem, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Borden. He died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.
He was born April 29, 1940, in Borden, the son of Chester H. and Mary Cook Jackson. He was a retired employee of Ford Kentucky Truck Plant after 30 years as a stock handler. He was a member of Borden Community Church and Local UAW 362. He was a former member and past president of the Borden Town Board, former member of Borden-Wood Township Fire Department, Sellersburg Moose Lodge and Country Cousins Dance Club. On May 28, 1960, he married the former Wilma Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jackson; two sons, Bryan Jackson and his wife, Donna, Memphis, and Brent Jackson, Palmyra; a daughter, Gina Farmer and her husband, Mike, Pekin; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Donnie “Chet” Jackson.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service.
