Lorraine Berryman Murphy 85; of New Albany
Funeral services for Lorraine Berryman Murphy, 85, of New Albany, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Pyke-Calloway Funeral Home, Mullineaux Chapel, 1217 E. Spring St., New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Floyd Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Winchester, Ky. on Sept. 2, 1923 to James Berryman and Ella Branham Berryman.
She was a homemaker and a member of Graceland Baptist Church, New Albany and TOPS in New Albany. She married Elwood R. Murphy on Aug. 1, 1959 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Melodie Sue Shultz and her husband, Brian, Floyds Knobs; a brother, James Berryman, Jeffersonville; a sister, Sara Ellen Cronkwright, Winchester, Ky.; three grandchildren; two nephews, Robert Etheridge and Gary Murphy; and a niece, Jeanine Bullington.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21.

Juanita C. Buechler Smith 81; Callistus Smith Insurance Agency employee
A funeral Mass for Juanita C. Buechler Smith, 81, of Floyds Knobs, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Norton Hospital in Louisville.
She was a native of Bradford, a longtime employee at Callistus Smith Insurance Agency in Floyds Knobs, and a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. Juanita’s family was the joy in her life. She enjoyed sewing, was a wonderful cook, and had a passion for gardening — everything she did was with love for her family.
Survivors include her husband, Robert P. Smith; three daughters, Carolyn Biggs and her husband, Jim, Floyds Knobs, Ruth Ann Deuser and her husband, Mark, Floyds Knobs and Cheryl Goodin and her husband, Dale, Versailles, Ky.; two sisters, Geneva Smith, Starlight and Valeria Daus and her husband, Bob, Louisville; two brothers, Herman Buechler and his wife, Doris, Floyds Knobs and John Buechler and his wife, Rita, Bradford; seven grandchildren, Derek Biggs, Jennifer Biggs Netter and her husband, Mitch, Brett Deuser, Lara Deuser Rink and her husband, Westin, John Goodin, Ally Goodin and Trent Goodin; and two great-grandchildren, Kayli and Kyle Netter.
Visitation at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21. A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association or St. Mary of the Knobs Church.
M. Lucille Simmons 84; of Elizabeth
Funeral services for M. Lucille Simmons, 84, of Elizabeth, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes, with burial in Evans Landing Cemetery, Elizabeth. She died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at her home.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
Kathryn J. ‘Katie’ Timberlake 80; of Mauckport
Funeral services for Kathryn J. “Katie” Timberlake, 80, of Mauckport, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home, Corydon, with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Corydon. She died Friday, Jan. 19, 2006, at her home.

Magdalene Weddington 77; of Scottsburg
Funeral services for Magdalene Weddington, 77, of Scottsburg, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Henryville Community Church, with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. She died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Scott County Memorial Hospital while in the company of family members.
She was born July 31, 1929 in Hueysville, Ky. and her parents Wootsen Gearheart and Sula Howard Gearheart precede her in death.
She was a member of Fisherman’s Paradise Christian Church, Henryville and was a homemaker.
She was the widow of Kenneth Raymond Weddington who died Feb. 14, 2005. They were married April 23, 1949.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Lois Richey and husband, Mike, Scottsburg and Mary Magdalene Northcutt and husband, Ronnie, Henryville; five sons, Kenneth Hugh and wife, Linda Weddington, Lexington, Barry Edward and wife, Paula Weddington, Scottsburg, Paul Stephen and wife, Patty Weddington, Otisco, Samuel David and wife, Suzette Weddington, Ocala, Fla., and James Phillip and wife, Lisa Weddington, Scottsburg; three sisters, Chris Sama of Hendersonville, N.C., Jewell Elliott of Debary, Fla. and Maxine Paige of McDowell, Ky.; a brother, Hayden Gearheart of Louisville, Ky.;18 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Rose Weddington.
Visitation will be at R.D. Pyke Funeral Service, Henryville, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 and after 9 a.m. Monday.
