Funeral services for Larry R. Denison, 73, of New Albany, will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Albany, with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at his home.
He was a native of New Albany, and was a firefighter for the city of New Albany. He served in many capacities within the Fire Department including fire chief. He served four years as a member of the Floyd County Council and as a Floyd County Commissioner for four years. He served as chief of security at the Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital after his retirement from the fire department.
He was vice president of the Southern Indiana Firefighters, a member of local 410 International Association of Firefighters and a member of the Retired Police and Firefighters Association.
He was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a member of the Cardinal Ritter Council 1221 Knights of Columbus.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy M. (Koetter) Denison; a son, Larry W. Denison (Bobbi Waits), of New Albany; three brothers, Lynn Denison, of Westerfield, Richard Denison, of Sacramento, and Russell Denison, of New Albany; and four grandchildren, Samantha, Tori, Erica and Sophia Denison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maude (Jones) Denison; and a son, Todd R. Denison.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Todd R. Denison Memorial Fund or the athletic department of Providence High School.
