Roger George Bonn

72; of New Albany

 Funeral services for Roger George Bonn, 72, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial and military honors at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.

 The son of the late Robert and Margaret Hobel Bonn, he was born May 15, 1940 in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a veteran and cryptographer with top secret clearance with the U.S. Army and a scholar of World War II. He was a financial advisor with Stifel Nicolaus & Company, Inc. and was in financial services for more than 50 years. He was past president of the Rotary Club of New Albany, the Ohio Valley Corvette Club and The Dream Factory. He was former Board President at Central Christian Church in New Albany and current member of First Christian Church in Jeffersonville. In addition to his love of Corvettes, he loved to play Hearts and was a very loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills. 

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Candice Williams Bonn; children, Roger L. Bonn and his wife, Cathy, Maggie Shively, Jennifer Dyck and her husband, Robert, Dennis Samsel and his wife, Sandra, and Leigh Samsel; sister, Patricia Bonn Selbert; and grandchildren, Michael, Ashley and Courtney Bonn, Brie and Alex Shively, Olivia Hicks, Chloe and Jacob Dyck and Nathan Samsel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bonn.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
