Richard Bruce ‘Rick’ Evans

59; formerly of Jeffersonville

Funeral services for Richard Bruce "Rick" Evans, 59, of South Boston, Va., formerly of Jeffersonville, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013.

 He was born Oct. 31, 1953 to Bernard Eugene Evans and Shirley Ann Hieatt Evans and was married to Tamara Sneed Evans. He was a retired maintenance manager at Mecklenburg Power Station for Delta Power Services, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Tamara Sneed Evans; one son, Richard Bruce Evans II, of South Boston, Va.; three daughters, Christi Rider, of Jeffersonville, Chasity Hawks, of Mebane, N.C., and Chariss Evans, of Baton Rouge, La.; his parents, Bernard and Shirley Evans; one sister, Cynthia Michels and her husband Gary, of Crestwood, Ky.; four brothers, Kevin Evans and his wife, Brenda, Darryl Evans and his wife, Kathy, and Chris Evans and his wife, Windy, all of Jeffersonville, and Scott Evans and his wife, Sarah, of Forest, Va.; six grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shawna Lynn Evans.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
