James Robert “Spud” Stewart, 86; of Elizabeth

— Funeral services for James Robert “Spud” Stewart, 86, of Elizabeth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Homes in New Albany, with burial in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery. He died Friday, March 22, 2013, at his home.

He was a native of New Albany, an Army veteran of WWII, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3281 and a member of Antioch Christian Church. He was a retired press operator for Cummings Veneer and retired after 33 years of service. 

Survivors include his son, James “Rick” Stewart and his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Debbie S. Byrne and her husband, Carl; a sister, Doris Gedling and her husband, Rick; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Carol, Margie and Susan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna L. Stewart; and a grandson, Nicholas Byrne. 

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday. 

Memorial contributions may take the form of contributions to Antioch Christian Church.
