Izak Wayne Poore

8; Memphis

— A celebration of life service for Izak Wayne Poore, 8, Memphis, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg. He died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Kosair Childrens Hospital, Louisville, and was escorted to Heaven by his Grandfather Wayne Poore.

Izak was a third grade student at Borden Elementary. Izak “The Warrior” touched the hearts of hundreds if not thousands of people. Izak’s mom and dad started calling Izak “The Warrior” in 2006, when he was 14 months old and got gravely sick with a virus that spread to his brain and then later was diagnosed with a childhood tumor called Neuroblastoma. Izak spent 143 days in Kosair Children’s Hospital where he beat every odd stacked against him. Through the years, he truly showed the world what it means to love, hope, believe and live like a true warrior.

Survivors include parents, Jason and Jami Poore; brother, Gunnar Poore; grandparents, Mike and Linda Stegall and Vicky Poore; great-grandparents, Delores Poore, John and Nancy Sefton, and Bonnie and Larry Cochran; aunts and uncles, Brian and Mindy Stegall, Cindy Poore and Jarrod Poore; cousins, Madison Stegall and Mackenzie Stegall; and great aunts and uncles, Scott Stegall, Russ and Denise Stegall, Mark Sefton, Debbie Garner-Sefton, Cathy Lozier, Theresa Poore and  Rodney Cole.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Stan and Jean Stegall, Doyle Bryant, Hugette Whitehair and Hiriam Poore; and his great aunt Diane Cole.
