Carl Daniel, 89; Pekin

Funeral services for Carl Daniel, 89, Pekin, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Dawalt Funeral Home, Salem, with the Rev. Larry DeWitt officiating, and burial to follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery with full military honors. He died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Salem Crossing.

He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Charley, Ky., the son of the late Garfield and Stella (Green) Daniel. He retired in 1985 from the old Lorillard Tobacco Co. in Louisville, served in World War II as a Private 1st Class in the U.S. Army and had been a resident of Washington County since 1999, formerly of New Albany and Elizabeth.

He married Glada (Blair) Daniel on Oct. 11, 1947, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Carl M. Daniel, Shepherdsville, Ky., five daughters, Andrea Brewer, Pekin, Marlena Buchanan, Henderson, Ky., Karen Young, Hardinsburg, Darlene Castellano, Jeffersontown, Ky., and Kay Payne, Salem; one brother, Roy Daniel, Georgetown; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephew, Garland; and two nieces, Sara and Rosemary.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
