James Dale Resler Sr.

88; of New Albany

James Dale Resler Sr., 88, of New Albany, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Lincoln Hills of New Albany.

He was a native of  Worthington, a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the Indiana State Police after 24 years of service. He was a member of State Street Baptist Church and was a former member of the Valley View Golf Club, the Redman Club and the American Legion. 

Survivors include his wife, Doris Goodwin Resler; his son, James Dale Resler Jr. and his wife, Cathy; daughter, Connie Dempsey and her husband, Dennis; his brother, Merle Resler; four grandchildren, Matthew Dempsey and his wife, Shannon, Amanda Smithberg and her husband, Robert, James Dale Resler III and his wife, Karah, and Emily Resler; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Lowell; and two sisters, Fern Crody and Barbara Resler.

His funeral service will be private.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany.

Memorial gifts may be made to The American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
