Edmund R. “Junie” Knable

78; of Georgetown

— A funeral Mass for  Edmund R. “Junie” Knable, 78, of Georgetown, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery. He died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at his residence.

Junie was an active member of St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Catholic Church in New Albany. He served two terms on the Floyd County Council and three terms as a Floyd County Commissioner. He was a member of the K of C Cardinal Ritter Council #1221 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired instrument and lab technician at Public Service Indiana and was an avid farmer in Georgetown.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1934, in New Albany to the late Edmund Fredrick and Bertha Catherine (Elmer) Knable. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann (Gettelfinger) Knable; children, Denise Konkle and her husband Dennis, of Greenville, Diane Lilly and her husband Jeff, of Georgetown, Donna Resch and her husband Steve, of Floyds Knobs and Tammy Gibson and her husband Grant, of Lanesville; sisters, Henrietta Huber, Winnona Lynch and Mary Ann Woods; grandchildren, Nathan and Stacey Konkle, Jenna Loop and her husband Chris, Chelsea Gardner and her husband John, Megan and Jacob Resch, Amanda Gibson and Matt Gibson and his wife Melissa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Matthew Knable; brothers, Richard, Alfred and Charles Knable; and sister, Ruth Ann Knable.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday,  with a Prayer Service at 3 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.
