George “Andy” Pfohl, 84; New Albany

— Funeral services for George “Andy” Pfohl, 84, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013.

He was born Sept. 15, 1929 in Uniontown, Ky. to the late George H. and Addie Thompson Pfohl. He retired from General Electric after 38 years of service. He was a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28, and the Knights of Columbus Cardinal Ritter Council 1221.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Nichols Pfohl; children, Debra A. Bishop and her husband, Terry, Diana L. Spears and her husband, Steve, David A. Pfohl and his wife, Karen, William Crosier, and Denise Rendell and her husband, Jim; sister, Molly Sparks; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Blackman Pfohl.  

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
