Funeral services for Darrell “Red” Adams Sr., 66, Charlestown, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Grayson Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Charlestown Cemetery. He died Saturday, Sept. 21, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
He was born on April 3, 1947, to Burnette and Callie Lorraine (Standifer) Adams in Whitesburg, Ky. He was a graduate of Charlestown High School, Indiana University, and University of Louisville Law School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a practicing attorney in Clark and surrounding counties for 30 years, employed by the State of Indiana Department of Correction in Henryville for 34 years, and Charlestown City Court Judge for three years. He was also a member of the North Charlestown Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Geneva (Howard) Adams, Charlestown; sons, Darrell Adams Jr. (Jacinta), Charlestown, and Andrew Adams (Tammy), Charlestown; daughter, Cheryl Doelker (Scott), Tampa, Fla.; brother, Carroll Adams (Delores), Charlestown; mother-in-law, Hazel Howard, Charlestown; grandchildren, Tara Doelker, Shara Doelker, Erica Adams, Ashlyn Adams, Brooke Adams, Harrison Adams, Sophia Adams and Gracie Jo Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Timothy Brandon and Dustin Scott Doelker; sister, Janice Adams; and father-in-law, Harvey Howard.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
