Tom Stengel, 70; Charlestown

Funeral Mass for Tom Stengel, 70, Charlestown, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Sellersburg, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Albany. He died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

 He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam, retired from the Census Bureau, and attended St. Paul Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and golfer, member of the Senior Golf League, transporter for Westminster, a bee keeper and an avid U.K. fan.  

 Survivors include his mother, Rose Stengel, Jeffersonville; wife, Sarah Stengel, Charlestown; son, Chad Stengel and his wife, Theresa, Jeffersonville; daughter, Lei Fahey, Louisville; brother, Marty Stengel and his wife, Patti, Charlestown; sister, Judy Kocka and her husband, David, Laconia; grandchildren, Heather, Chelsey, Stephany, Allie and Jordan; and great-grandson, Jullian.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Stengel and a sister, Gloria Jean Stengel.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg.
