Ronald G. Bennett, 78; New Albany

— A funeral service celebrating the life of Ronald G. Bennett,  78, New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

He was born in English, and formerly worked for the Zeon and B.F. Goodrich Companies. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Hobart Beach Post, the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post, the 40 & 8 Voiture and Parkway Southern Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Payton Bennett; a son, Terry L. Bennett and his wife, Marcey; two daughters, Pamela J. Evans and her husband, Beaver, and Patricia Stumler and her fiance’, Louis Herron; a brother, Joe Bennett and his wife, Ima Ruth; three sisters, Nancy King and her husband, Leon, Bonnie Huff and  her husband, Clyde, and Ruthann Eckert and her husband, Monty; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Nancy Faye Bennett, three brothers, Charles, Don and Gerald, a sister, Virginia Vice, and a granddaughter, Ashley Stumler.

 Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
