Raleigh H. Loughmiller Jr. 84; of New Albany

— Funeral services for Raleigh H. Loughmiller Jr., 84, of New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with full military honors. Entombment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Autumn Woods Health Campus.

He was born June 14, 1928, in New Albany, to the late Raleigh H. and Fern Neafus Loughmiller Sr. and lived most of his life in New Albany and Sellersburg. He was a CWO 4, Chief Warrant Officer with the Indiana Army National Guard for some 39 years until his retirement in 1988 and served proudly with the 1st BN, 151st Infantry in New Albany for his entire career.  He was a member of the Sellersburg Buckner Lodge 631 F. & A.M., the Borden Chapter 588 Eastern Star and DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church. He served his state and country with distinction and honor. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Survivors Include his wife of 61 years, Laura A. Wilson Loughmiller; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Green and husband, Roger; granddaughter, Alice E. McCulloch and husband, Chris; great-grandson, Williem McCulloch; sister, Shirlee Curl; brother, John Loughmiller; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Loughmiller.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
