Paul J. "Paulie" Andres

91; of Floyds Knobs

A funeral Mass celebration for Paul J. "Paulie" Andres, 91, Floyds Knobs, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs, with burial and military honors in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

 He served proudly in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Hoosier Panel after 36 years of employment. A lifelong member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, he was formerly active in the Floyds Knobs Community Club and the Providence High School Booster Club. He loved working in the fields, taking pictures of family and friends, sharing stories and was hard to beat at Euchre. Above all, he found contentment in his deep, lifelong devotion to family and faith.

He was born on June 24, 1921 to the late Joseph M. and Bertha L. (Receveur).

He is survived by sons, Ron and wife, Cindy, John (Janis), Mike and wife, Denice, David and wife, Jan, and Chuck and wife, Sarah; daughters, Rosie Donner and husband, Allen, Kathy Martin and husband, Jim and Donna Swartz and husband, Vic. Paul was immensely proud of his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by Stephanie Andres Rogers and her husband, Matt, Leslie Andres Mills, Matthew Andres and his wife, Carrie Beth, Amy Donner Lorenz and her husband, Chris, Darcy Donner Williams and her husband, Sterling, Jessica Donner, Andrea Martin Cooley and her husband, Gary, Emily Martin and her husband, David Adkins, Stephanie Kirk Colin and her husband, Shawn, Erica Kirk McBride and her husband, Woody, Kyle Andres and his wife, Ruth, Daniel, Lindsey and Kelly Andres, Anthony, Peter and Will Andres, and Zachary and Jacob Swartz. He was also blessed to have 15 great-grandchildren, Jay, Alex, Evan, Griffin, Jackson, Addison, Mya, Tristan, Thatcher, Thea, Oliver, Liam, Alex, Laynee and Seamus. Paul also leaves behind beloved brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

 He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen T. Engle Andres; a son, Stephen; brothers, Anthony, Ambrose, and Carl Andres; and sisters, Irma Bodenstadt, Martha Striegel, Alma Striegel, and Gladys Koetter.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.

The family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff at Mercy/Providence Retirement Home for their tender love and care of Paul over the last few years.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Providence Jr. – Sr. High School or St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.
