Funeral services for David Durand “Buck” Webb, 86, North Vernon, will be at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 11, at Dove-Sharp & Rudice Funeral Home and Cremation, North Vernon. He died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Lincoln Hills Health Center, New Albany.
He was born on April 23, 1927 in McRoberts, Ky., the son of David Burnace and Malinda Vanover Webb. He married Jeanetta Henry on July 3, 1950 in Jennings County. He retired in 1987 after 40 years from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, where he had worked in the research department and worked for 20 years for County Squire Lake Security retiring in 2008. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. He attended Butlerville High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Columbus. He enjoyed bowling, roller-skating, riding motorcycles, golfing, flying airplanes, traveling in the United States, photography and was the owner of Webb’s Archery Shop.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanetta Webb, North Vernon; two sons, Jeffery Webb and his wife, Kendra, and Lance Webb, both of North Vernon; three daughters, Jerri Tinsley and her husband, Steve, Georgetown, Nikki Miller and her husband, Terry, and Stormey Booth and her husband, Lyle, both of North Vernon; one brother, Watson Webb, North Vernon; one sister, Sonia Craft, North Vernon; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several special step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Herbert Webb and Jimmy Dale Webb.
Visitation was Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Matt Hester Post 2021 V.F.W. will provide military graveside rites in the Vernon Cemetery.
