George J. Englert, 91; New Albany

— Funeral Mass for George J. Englert, 91, New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery, Floyds Knobs. He died Monday, March 17, 2014.  

The son of the late George and Cecelia Kippenbrock Englert, he was born March 19, 1922 in St. Anthony. He was a World War II Army veteran, recipient of the Purple Heart and was a member of VFW Post 1693, New Albany. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of service and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Helen M. Andres Englert; daughters, Pamela Joan Belden, and Karen Rose Waters; sister, Dorothy Zeller; brother, Kenneth Englert; grandchildren, Sara and Clay Waters and Jonathan (Patty) and Matthew Belden; and great-grandchildren, Lily, George, Phoebe and Edy.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany. A Rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
