Paul A. Bierly

79; Louisville

— Funeral Mass for Paul A. Bierly, 79, Louisville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Our Lady  of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial and military honors at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Buena Vista, near Elizabeth. He died Sunday, Aug. 18 2013.

 He was a United States Air Force veteran, retired from Ashland Oil, and was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Louisville. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed vacationing in Florida. The most important thing in Paul’s life was most definitely his faith and family. He was born July 26, 1934 in Elizabeth, to Mary Ashton Bierly and the late Paul W. Bierly.

 Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Patricia A. Ang Bierly; children, Paula Gaddis and her husband, Darrell, Angela Holder and her husband, Doug, and Mark Bierly and his wife, Jeannie; stepchildren, Mike Day and his wife, Delana, Sherry Murphy and her husband, Chris, Beth Nolan and her husband, Alan, Debbie Yarbrough and her husband, Tom, Barbie Day, Jeff Day and his wife, Cheryl, and Terri Metzger and her husband, Todd; mother, Mary Ashton Bierly; siblings, Richard Bierly and his wife, Sandy, Jim Bierly and his wife, Sheila, Gene Bierly and his wife, Nadine, Roger Bierly, Rowena Orme and her husband, Don, Mary Lou Summers and her husband, Paul, Shirley Fessel and her husband, Nick, Diane Frakes and her husband, Alan, and Karen Drake; 21 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Bierly.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany.
