Dorothy E. ‘Dotty’ Ross

86; Charlestown

— Funeral services for Dorothy E. “Dotty” Ross, 86, Charlestown, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at  Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Silver Creek Cemetery. She died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Kentuckiana Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 24, 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. William S. Voiles on a Decatur County Indiana farm. She was reared by her loving father after the untimely death of her mother in 1936. She met Glenn Ross of Charlestown at Hanover College upon his return from serving in World War II. After graduation, they were married in 1948. She taught music and English in the Greater Clark and Fayette County Indiana schools. She was the choir director for the First United Methodist Church of Charlestown for more then 50 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma International, and a member of the Indiana Retired Teacher's Association.

Survivors include her son, Brian Clark Ross, Charlestown; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Dr. Paul Cleeter, Plymouth; many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1995

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
