A funeral service for Lester R. Archibald, 83, Louisville, a former resident of New Albany, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at the Charlestown Road Chapel of Kraft Funeral Service with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Saturday, Oct. 5.
The son of the late Percy S. and Myrtle (Wilkes) Archibald, Lester was born July 16, 1930 in Alton, Ind. He retired from Ford Motor Co. after 38 years of service and was a member of F&AM Depauw Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
Survivors include Lester’s wife of 64 years, Juanita Y. (Voyles) Archibald; daughters, Peggy S. Archibald and Dr. Sandi Archibald-Pedley and her husband, Lawrence Jr.; sons, Gary R. Archibald and his wife, Cathy, and William L. Archibald; sisters, Thelma Landers and Lucille Vaughn; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Evaline, Hazel, Sam, Elmer and Charles.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
