A memorial service celebrating the life of Tom C. Brown, 77, New Albany, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Market Street Chapel, New Albany. He left this life Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Louisville to the late Jewell E. and Charlotte F. Wicke Brown. He was a former resident of Fort Wayne. He attended Redeemer Lutheran Church, was a member of the Elks Club and an Army veteran. He retired from Lincoln Life Insurance Company and was an avid golfer. His family and friends remember him as a gentle and loving man who enjoyed travel, reading and movies, particularly “James Bond” and “Sherlock Holmes”. At age 76, Tom was thrilled to make his own acting début in the recently released feature film “Pieces of Easter” where he drew on his own life experiences to play the part of a church usher. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will remain in their hearts forever.
Survivors include his nieces, Charlotte “Charlie” Douglas (Tom Luce), Shirley A. Miller and Anna Rose Hardin; nephew, Keith Reccius and his wife, Diane; and a great-niece, Heather A. Douglas (Jason Pethers.) He is also survived by several loving family members in Texas and the Fort Wayne, area including a brother-in-law; 10 nieces and nephews; 18 great nieces and nephews; and 22 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife Dorothy Jean Buuck Brown, his parents and brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held in Fort Wayne to be announced at a later date, with interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
