David B. Taylor

66; of Catlettsburg. Ky.

Funeral services for David B. Taylor, 66 of Catlettsburg, Ky., will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the new Meade Station Church of God, 10255 Cedar Hill Drive, Ashland, Ky. There will be no graveside service. He died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, in Kings Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland.

 He was born May 10, 1946 in Jeffersonville, a son of the late Ford and Pauline Taylor. He was member of Meade Station Church of God where he was a Sunday school teacher of the Ambassador Class. He graduated from Clarksville High School where he lettered in four sports. He played football on the first team his high school fielded and received All-American Honorable Mention his senior year as well as a scholarship to Morehead State University. He also held the school’s shot put record for over 30 years. He loved sports and coached his sons in Little League baseball. He loved cheering for all the kids, even those on the opposing teams, but liked nothing better than cheering on the Boyd County Lions basketball team. He was also a local artist whose creations appeared in newspapers, libraries, on local area team t-shirts, national magazines, and professional minor league baseball shirts, hats, and advertisements. In all of Dave’s endeavors and encounters with friends, family, and strangers, he never missed an opportunity to share his love of Christ.

  He was retired from the Pipeline Department of Marathon/Ashland.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sonja, and their sons, Tim Taylor, of Ashland, Ky., Andy Taylor and his wife, Heather, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Danny Taylor and his wife, Shelley, of Ashland. KY.; brothers, Ford Taylor III and his wife,  Cathy, of Salem,  and Matt Taylor and his wife,  Linda, of  Sellersburg; sisters, Alice Taylor, of Clarksville, Anna Tindall and her husband, Bob, of Oldham County, Ky., Margaret Wiseman and her husband, David, of Clarksville, and Becky Redden and her husband, Lonnie, of Clarksville; and grandchildren, Michaela, Devon, Madison, Caleb and Ace.

  Visitation will be today at Meade Station Church of God from 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be sent to the Linda Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund at Meade Station Church of God, 10255 Cedar Hill Drive, Ashland, KY 41102.
