Funeral services for Randy D. Hubbard, 70, of New Albany, will be at noon Thursday, July 11, at Depauw Memorial United Methodist Church, 925 Vincennes St., New Albany, with interment at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
He was born on March 9, 1943, in New Albany. He was a member of Depauw Memorial United Methodist Church. He was with the New Albany Police Department from March 24, 1970, until his retirement after 28 years and 9 months of service. He held several positions within the department including chief of police, chief of detectives, and his permanent rank as captain.
He was elected sheriff of Floyd County in the fall of 1998 and began as sheriff on Jan. 1, 1999.
He served there for eight years with Dec. 31, 2007, his last official day.
He is survived by his wife, Martha L. (Allen) Hubbard to whom he was married for 47 years; two daughters, Kimberly A. Caruso and her husband Paul, and Holly L. Shina and her husband Mark; and the light of his eye was his three grandsons, Elijah and Spencer Shina and Jasper Caruso. He has two sisters, Janice A. Rose and her husband Charles and Judith L. Schmidt and her husband Gary; three nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Dorothy Hubbard; and his parents-in-law, Vern and Frances Allen, all of whom loved him dearly.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, New Albany.
