Funeral Mass for Carol Jane Zimmerer Brumleve, 78, of Louisville, will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3926 Poplar Level Road, Louisville, followed by interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Louisville. She died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at the Hosparus Inpatient Unit of the Norton Pavilion.
She was born Oct. 5, 1934, to Carl F. and Margaret M. Lell Zimmerer and was a lifelong resident of Louisville. She grew up in Butchertown, attended St. Joseph Catholic School, was valedictorian of the Ursuline Academy Class of 1952, and also attended Ursuline College. She retired in 1998 from the University of Louisville, having worked for many years as a Senior Telephone Operator. She was a member of Holy Family Church for more than 50 years, sang in the church choir for more than 20 years, and belonged to the Altar Sodality, the 50 & Over Club, and the funeral choir. She was also a member of the Catholic Golden Age, On With Life and ULARP.
Survivors include two daughters, Constance J. Neeson and her husband, Rodrick, of West Terre Haute, and Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Olliges, of Louisville; six sons, Ronald J., Jerome L. and his wife, Yvonne, John R. and his wife, Lizbeth, and David G. Brumleve, all of Louisville, Lawrence J. Brumleve and his wife, Liz, of Overland Park, Kan., and James C. Brumleve and his wife, Perla, of Parker, Texas; 12 grandchildren, David Neeson and his wife, Crista, and Matthew, Melanie, Connor, and Parker Brumleve, all of Louisville, Joseph Neeson and his wife, Ashley, of Greenwood, Christopher Neeson and his wife, Heather, of Charlotte, N.C., Daniel Brumleve and his wife, Megan, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Robert Brumleve, of Overland Park, Kan., Erica Cavanaugh, of Frisco, Texas, Ashley Cavanaugh, of Plano, Texas, and James D. Brumleve, of Parker, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Lilly, Sarah, Evan, Liam, Ryland, Kyle, and Kenli Neeson; five sisters, Mary Ann Vest and her husband, Al, of Clarksville, Gerri Wade, of Sellersburg, and Barbara Cissell and her husband, Buddy, Margaret Decker and Betty Kimpflein and her husband, Bill, all of Louisville; and a brother, Kenneth Zimmerer, of Marietta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Ronald E. “Gene” Brumleve; her daughter, Catherine J. Brumleve; and her son-in-law, Daniel C. Olliges.
Visitation will be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday with a Rosary at 5 p.m. Friday, at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home, 2723 Preston Highway, Louisville.
