Robert L. Wilson

90; of Scottsburg

— Funeral services for Robert L. Wilson, 90, of Scottsburg, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his residence.

 He was born on Dec. 11, 1922 in Columbia, Ky., the son of the late Eley and Mary Bell Martin Wilson. He retired on Feb. 1, 1978 from the old Colgate Palmolive Company in Claksville, after 35 years of service and lived most of his life in Clark and Scott Counties. He attended the North Charlestown Church of God in Charlestown, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and founded the old Borden Bluegrass Music Association, which is now known as the Southern Indiana Music Association. He has performed and managed the sound system for many groups at the Spirit of Suwuannee Music Park in Live Oak, Fla.

 Survivors include his wife, Tryphena Blair Brown-Wilson; eight daughters, Mary C. Coin, Helen Cunningham, Elizabeth Nokes, Carolyn Wilson, Susan Estes, Marilyn Roth,  Joan F. Miles, and Catherine Fouts;  two sons, Robert L. Wilson II,  and Paul K. Wilson; two stepsons, Stanley Brown, and Bradley Smiley-Brown; two stepdaughters, Marcia Schaaf, and Penny Conlen; a brother, Owen Wilson; 34 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great- grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Janet Horsley Wilson on Aug. 14, 2003, a daughter, Linda Derrickson, a son, Martin Wilson, two sisters, Helen Slaughterback and Elizabeth Young, and a brother, Albert Wilson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
