David R. King

79; of New Albany

— Funeral services for David R. King, 79, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Clarksville, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received a medal for National Defense with the Army of Occupation. After working as a stores and property supervisor for ICI Americas, he enjoyed many years of retirement, traveling with his wife to Las Vegas, Hawaii and other destinations. He was a devout Christian and attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and was a former member of Broadway Church of the Nazarene. He was a football and basketball fan, following IU, U of L, and the Indianapolis Colts.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Mary Helen Blake-King; sons,    Darius King and his wife Cheryl and Dean King and his wife Connie; stepdaughter, Jan Blake-Pearson and her husband Joe; grandchildren, Amber Burkheart, Alisha Lopez and David King;

five great-grandchildren; and brother, Alan King.       

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Esther King; sister, Catherine Klinstiver; and wife Delaine King

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany.
