Harold W. Armstrong

Harold W. Armstrong, 91; World War II veteran

Funeral services for Harold W. Armstrong, 91, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Graceland Baptist Church, New Albany, with burial in New Chapel Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Fredricksburg and was a retired farm owner and operator. He was a member of Graceland Baptist Church, the Walnut Street Baptist Oasis Club and Gideon’s International. He was a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau and the Clark County Farm Bureau, where he served as chairman of the membership committee for several years. He was a past supervisor of the Soil & Water Conservation Board, and he previously won the Master Farmer of the Year Award in 1999. He was an Army veteran of World War II

Survivors include his wife, Louise Casner-Armstrong; a son, Donald L. Armstrong and his wife, Shannon, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three daughters, Ruth Ann Bandy and her husband, Kenny, of Jeffersonville, Patsy Caudill and her husband, James, of Charlestown, and Betty L. Adams and her husband, Don, of Charlestown; a stepdaughter, Debbie McAfee and her husband, Phill, of Georgetown; a stepson, Keith Casner, of New Albany; seven grandchildren, Mark Hamilton and his wife, Julie, Jeff Hamilton and his wife, Leslie, Mike Adams and his wife, Emily, Eric Armstrong and his wife, Breana, Travis Armstrong, Andrew Caudill and Malia Caudill; 13 stepgrandchildren, Heidi Grimm and and her husband, Spencer, Michelle Morgan and her husband, Dale, Darin Jewell, Christian Jewell and his wife, Joni, Seth Jewell, John McAfee and his wife, RaeLynn, Nancy Barnes, Donna Wood and her husband, Royce, Denise Jefferies and her husband, Bruce, Cheryl Burkhead and her husband, Lonnie, Diane Smith and her husband, Donald, Tony Bandy and his wife, Dawn and Dale Bandy; six great-grandchildren; 22 stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
