CHEERS AND JEERS — For June 14-15

... To New Albany senior Javen Reeves for winning the state high jump championship last weekend with a leap of 6 feet, 9 inches.

Reeves is the second New Albany high jumper to win a state title. The great Jeff Woodard won the 1977 title and went on to star at the University of Alabama. Winning an individual state title at such a demanding sport is quite an accomplishment.

Javen has secured his place in New Albany High School sports history with his championship jump. Great job Javen.

... to the city of Jeffersonville and a steering committee for the idea to put a Wall of Champions up in the city.

This idea sounds like a cool way to honor important residents who have shaped Jeffersonville past and present.

The News and Tribune looks forward to bringing readers news of the Wall as it progresses.

... to the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library for having Deborrah Wyndham on Thursday afternoon to play a wide variety of music from ragtime and other early jazz styles to original contemporary music.

It was delightful and enjoyed by all.
